I concur with all below! The place is a total dump! Filthy and dingy. Hair in the bed and on bathroom wall. Rude staff with no information on how to get wi-fi or anything else. Two days were topped off by finding a dead roach on the bathroom floor.
Best Bed-and-Breakfast New York 2010 - The Gracie Inn Bed & Breakfast Hotel
This is not exactly Vermont, but that doesn't mean you have to put your guests up in an expensive hotel full of tourists or a hostel that caters to bedbugs and college dropouts finding themselves. Check out The Gracie Inn Bed & Breakfast Hotel, on the Upper East Side, smack in the middle of it all. Its location—one block from East River Park and less than 10 blocks from Central Park, the Met, the Whitney, and other museums—is perfect for blending in with the locals while getting the very best that Manhattan has to offer. Other bed-and-breakfasts may give off snobbish vibes, but the Gracie Inn is down-home in attitude: lots of friendly help, kitchenettes in each room, breakfast delivered to your room every morning. There's more privacy here than at many other B&Bs, plus cable and free Wi-Fi. Even your pet's welcome.
Did the person who granted the Award stayed there or even visited the place? Dirty on arrival, quickly "cleaned" upon complaint, not cleaned thereafter: weeks' dust and remains under the bed; sheets never changed until last (6th) night, upon complaint again; butts and other remains on the outside edge of the windows (I have pics at your disposal); breakfast never as requested. We stayed at this place 5 years ago, it was oldish but clean (reason for our coming back) now they have put some fresh paint on the walls and declared the hotel renovated; it looks like they are just milking the business. Because of my complaining, I was "awarded" a discount of about 125$ out of a bill of 2.215 $Shame on them ...and on the Village Voice.
This hotel is a dump! I can't believe it was chosen as a top anything besides the worst. We stayed here for our honeymoon. The room was boiling hot during October, the bathroom ceiling was falling off while we took our shower, and the bed was terrible and small. I would never go back to this place.
