Gilauti kebab hails from Lucknow, once known as the City of the Nawabs—Muslim noblemen of the Mughal Empire. The story goes that this particular kebab was invented for a toothless nawab who wanted some lamb, but could no longer chew. So a clever (or terrified) cook minced the meat so finely that it resembled a paste, mixed it with spices and papaya purée to further tenderize it, and steamed the patties over an open fire. Bhatti Indian Grill makes the city's best version. The small, pale pucks of meat go all silken in your mouth, like a marvelous, spiced pâté.

I was hoping Bhatti would get selected for some 'best of' and so hapy to see it is! The food is excellent, the service is superb and the atmosphere is cozy. Every single time. The consistency is what we keep coming back for. And if you are undecisive, ask the staff or Manager for his recommendations- never go wrong. Cant wait to go back and eat some more kebabs!

Honestly, do not waste your money or time at this restaurant..One needs to have a really bad tasting pallet to enjoy this food. Its absolutely terrible. The worst Indian food I have ever eaten. Price is even overpriced for the portion.. I read up a lot of reviews before eating here but decided to give it a try. Big mistake..

Thank you Village Voice for rewarding Bhatti for its kebabs- and I have to agree, they makes the city's best version of the Gilauti. I frequent Bhatti and was so happy to see their name on your 'Best Of' list...you just reassured me that I'm eating at the right places! Good job Bhatti Indian Grill, and thank you for giving us a taste of Lucknow.

Traveling frequently to NYC for work. I get to dine or take out at many restaurants.. I heard great things about this place & was excited to dine their.. But I think it was the worse mistake ever.. I agree sometimes its a hit or a miss with a new restaurant but a few friends & I have dined & done a take out few times just to give the restaurant another try & below are my comments.. The lamb is one of the worse I have every eaten. Do not order any of their GILAUTI KEBAB... If the word Bhatti means "Fire Grill" then I think the cook seriously needs to learn how to use it. its TERRIBLE..there is no words to explain it. I threw the entire dish in the trash.....The restaurants other kabobs are better than the above but nothing you have not eaten anywhere before... . .The curries were average.. & heavy..(Eg: Methi Chicken.. If you eat more than 2 - 3 spoons you will feel like throwing up due to the heavyness in the cream..).. Non veg biryani - TASTELESS...Chicken Xacuti (Have no idea what the hell the chef was trying to make but it was a mess)..Seafood.. always has a funky smell.. Its definitively not the curry but the seafood.. The only thing decent is the Paneer .. Overall Quality of the food is below average.. You can get much better Indian cuisine on curry hill. The price is high for what you get & honestly its a waste of Money & disgrace to food..
