Sure, it might be too late for you to ever play in the World Cup. (OK, it definitely is.) But if you think you have a young Mia Hamm or Landon Donovan at home, Upper 90 in Brooklyn is the place to take your little footballer. Opened in December of 2010, this 4,000-square-foot soccer emporium features a small turf field, where birthday parties and group classes are held for children ranging in age from three to 12. (Teenagers and adults can sign up for private lessons with experienced coaches.) The store, which also has a smaller location on the Upper West Side, offers clothing, balls, and other gear by top brands such as Umbro, Adidas, and Puma. But what really makes the Brooklyn location so winning is that you can actually try out the goods on the turf before committing to a purchase. Soccer matches are always playing on the 60-inch television, and for those who can't watch a game without wearing their favorite team's jersey, Upper 90 has an array of team shirts to choose from.
