Sometimes you have to wear out your shoe leather in the hunt for the best spot. A friend of ours had a broken shank on her new platforms. Despairing, she took them to North 11th Shoe Repair, a shop tucked out of the way in Williamsburg. The shoe was fixed in one day for only $30. The cobbler is a master craftsman and a good deal: ?No frills, just cobbling? is how our friend put it. (We think it would make a good T-shirt slogan, too). The shop is on the third floor of a building on North 11th between Berry and Wythe?go up the stairs, through a door, and down a hallway. And it?s open early on weekdays, at 8 a.m., so if you have a mangled pair of boots you can drop them off on your way to work and hopefully pick them up after.
