It's essentially an outdoor mall, but the South Street Seaport is an outdoor mall with a great view. It might not have the same stigma as Times Square, but most New Yorkers would hesitate before telling friends they went to South Street Seaport for a $12 margarita and some light shopping. Still, you can sip that margarita next to a docked tall ship, and that light shopping just saved you from adding yet another Amazon order to your credit card. On a sunny day, you might forget you're in New York and instead feel transported to Downtown Disney, Orlando's premier outdoor entertainment, dining, and shopping complex. Sound terrible? Sometimes, it's not. And did we mention the great view?
South Street Seaport was one of my favorite Friday evening hangouts during my stay in New York last year. Especially beautiful when the sun is setting and casting a golden glow over the Brooklyn Bridge. Can't wait to repeat the experience again next year.
