Bear Mountain State Park
Just an hour away from our chaotic metropolis, there's a remarkable antidote for what ails you. Bear Mountain State Park is situated on the west bank of the Hudson River and boasts lush mountain terrain with more than 235 miles of trails. And that includes the granddaddy of them all: The Appalachian Trail is especially good for both inexperienced hikers and experts, as it features easy and strenuous trails with a variety of loop hikes (don't forget to pack water).
