Lali Guras
Nepalese continues to be a big deal in Jackson Heights, and there are a half-dozen cafés with an emphasis on various combos of Himalayan cuisines within the confines of the neighborhood. Lali Guras ("rhododendrons," the national symbol) is a truck stop of a place, picturesque and delicious. There are momos, of course, but also a dense and dark mutton curry, and sel roti—a giant pretzel of deep-fried rice pretending to be a flatbread. Those who love meals on stainless steel trays will especially appreciate the goat thali.
