Best Boxer New York 2013 - Peter Quillin

In his first title shot, Peter Quillin knocked down WBO middleweight champ Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam two times in the fight's final 45 seconds. When the announcer declared the 30-year-old Quillin victorious by unanimous decision, the crowd went nuts. It was October 20, 2012, the first boxing card at the Barclays Center, and the locals had eagerly embraced Quillin, a Michigan native who has lived in New York City for the past 11 years. Anyone who's watched his past two fights can see why. Six months after winning the title, he returned to Barclays to defend it against Fernando Guerrero. Quillin dropped him to the canvas four times before the referee awarded him a technical knockout in the seventh round. The brutal math from those two Brooklyn fights—Quillin's only two title bouts—is astounding: In 19 total rounds, he's rattled off 10 knockdowns. With a straight right hand that could knock the apples out of a tree, "Kid Chocolate," at 29-0 with 21 knockouts, now sits among the top names of his division.
