Best Political Satirist New York 2013 - William Powhida
The closest thing the art world has to 18th- and 19th-century social critics like William Hogarth and Honoré Daumier, William Powhida has made a right nuisance of himself in the pages of various publications, including this one (he illustrated our February 6 cover story, "Artmageddon!: How Uptown Money Kills Downtown Art"), skewering most of the art world's big players, including name-brand artists, curators, critics, and museum directors. An equal-opportunity deflator, Powhida sees all power roles as fair game. New York is lucky to have him.
