Barbra Streisand Says Marlon Brando Wanted Her!

Barbra Streisand Says Marlon Brando Wanted Her!

Last night I attended a special screening of The Guilt Trip with Seth Rogen fighting and bonding with mama Barbra Streisand on a car trip to settle some scores.

And there was a live simulcast afterwards, with the two of them fielding questions from fans. (In New York, we watched it on the big screen.)

In the course of the banter, Barbra revealed that in the 1970s, she and Marlon Brando went on a road trip of their own.

"He wanted to go the desert to see the wildflowers," she explained.

"He wanted to stay overnight, but I said, 'I don't know you well enough!'

"I remember ordering hamburgers and going, 'This is Marlon Brando!'

He was great."

I bet he was even greater overnight.

Barbra also talked about the time she and then-hubby Elliott Gould had dinner with Peter Sellers and Britt Ekland, and some pot was consumed.

"We went to a restaurant," she remembered, "and started to riff on stuff like 'Should we have steak ice cream?'

"It was funny at the time. It's not funny now because you're not high!" she added, laughing.

Speaking of which--yep, a lot of ground was covered--Barbra said she didn't want to do the scene in The Guilt Trip where she downs a 50-ounce steak on a challenge; she was afraid she'd choke, for one thing.

But she agreed to do it, and they substituted burnt watermelon for the steak in some of the shots.

Last night, she compared it to the food eating scene in Hello, Dolly!, which she called "disgusting."

"I can't remember what it was--some white crap," she added.

I'm hoping for true diehard Broadway types to fill in the details here. Was it chicken?

Oh, one more funny thing about the curious art of moviemaking:

Jason Statham's name came up and Barbra said, "Who's Jason Statham?"

Then she remembered: "Oh, he's the's the tough guy. He's bald with the cheeks and the stubbly beard.

"When I see him, I say, 'What's his name?"
