Change the Priscilla Curtain Call!

Change the Priscilla Curtain Call!

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is a crowd-pleasing Broadway show -- that is, until the very end, when the audience feels a tiny bit kicked in the gut.

See, by all rights, Tony Sheldon, who plays the elder gal, Bernadette, and who's been with the production from day one, should get the last bow.

It would make creative, personal, and ethical sense.

And it would feel good, because Sheldon -- who has as satisfying an arc as the others -- is clearly the audience favorite.

(And I bet he'll be a Tony favorite, too.)

The crowd has bounced along with the giddy, colorful journey to the very end.

And then the American guy who plays the drag queen with the son gets the final curtain call!

That's not right and the audience knows it!

It's not a good idea to have the audience leave feeling some weirdness mixed in with their glee.

Contracts need to be renegotiated immediately.
