Cops Shoo the Messenger Pigeons

Union Square is now pretty much full of people.

To the west, along Seventh Avenue, the streets and sidewalks are packed solid with protesters. Looking north from 18th Street, along Seventh Avenue, the street and sidewalks are packed solid with people as far as you can see. It's the same way if you look south.

But the police are using a divide-and-conquer strategy. At 33rd Street and Seventh, the cops are blocking the press from entering the line of the march—even the reporters and camera people who have NYPD passes, which usually give wearers the right to cross police lines. Frustrated journalists are trying to secure perches along buildings to take photos of the crowd.
