Elizabeth Taylor's Husbands Ranked in Order of Fabulousness

Elizabeth Taylor's Husbands Ranked in Order of Fabulousness

Elizabeth Taylor married eight times to a total of seven people, but some were more memorable than others.

Here are my rankings of the men she said "I do" to, in ascending order of merit.

(7) Larry Fortensky (1991-1996). A lowly construction worker! So out of her league! He must have thought, "I can't believe I'm drilling Liz Taylor!"

(6) John Warner (1976-1982). A Republican! That's almost as low as a construction worker! What was she thinking?

(5) Conrad Hilton, Jr. (1950-1951). Nine unhappy months. Hilton relationships never last. Look at Paris.

(4) Michael Wilding (1952-1957). One of a string of marriages for both of them. He was another failed father figure for Liz. At least they produced two sons.

(3) Michael Todd (1957-1958). This was the only Liz marriage that didn't end in divorce. But Mike's death by plane crash devastated the screen goddess. The relationship was the real thing -- one of her two top loves of a lifetime.

(2) Eddie Fisher (1959-1964). I loved Eddie -- he crooned "Oh Mein Papa" to my parents and considered me a younger lookalike. And his high-profile marriage to Liz was the scandal of the decade -- the original Brangelina, as it were. He will be legendary for that alone, if not for appearing in Butterfield 8.

(1) Richard Burton (1964-1974 and again 1975-1976). Liz and Dick were so hot for each other they married twice! They were a great couple, with lots of fiery fighting and passionate making up; tons of jewelry, booze, suspicions, traveling, and Here's Lucy appearances. In all their unquenchable tabloid appeal, they proved that a real relationship is much better p.r. than a fake one. No one from High School Musical could ever top them.
