Elton John's Husband Trashes Madonna For Golden Globe Win And Speech!
Madonna had just won Best Song for co-writing something that pops up in the February release W.E.
Sir Elton (who's British royalty just like Dame Madge herself) hadn't won for "Hello Hello" from the animated movie about lawn gnomes in love.
And Sir Elton couldn't disguise his apparent indigestion as the camera closed in on him.
He looked like he was smelling some kind of "Masterpiece" all right, especially since he'd told a red-carpet interviewer that Madge didn't have "a fucking chance" to win.
Elton's consolation? His song is on the qualifying list for an Oscar nomination. Madonna's is not.
UPDATE: Elton's husband, David Furnish, went even further. Here's the message on David's Facebook page: "These awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism. And her criticism of Lady Gaga shows how desperate she really is."
Ooh! British snit fight!
Meanwhile, strong reactions continued when Madonna used her other Golden Globes screen time -- when she presented Best Foreign Film -- to gush about her early love of films by foreign auteurs like Luchino Visconti, art-house gems that must have filled the screens of Bay City when she was a child.
Not since Streisand compared herself to Kurosawa on the very same awards telecast have I been so visibly moved.
But the best reaction shot of all came courtesy of the fat guy from Modern Family when Matt LeBlanc won.
Here it is, at the 1:29 mark. It's worthy of Visconti.
