Grace Jones Singing "Tomorrow" From Annie
Just say that to yourself over and over again:
"Grace Jones singing 'Tomorrow' from Annie" until you believe it--because it was a reality, honey.
In 1977, the exotic Jamaican-born disco chanteuse lipsynched her version of the bouncy moppet showtune on a syndicated TV show called Celebrity Cabaret as jaws dropped.
She wore an orange shmatte complete with snood, and the net effect was so surreal I feel the world hasn't been the same since.
It's a shame the producers of the upcoming Annie revival have already announced the little girl who's playing the title role.
I say bump the bitch and get Grace.
She would finally give that happy, smiley show some edge.
Thanks to Pieces bar's Vodka Stinger for the tip.
