I Should Have Been In The Peter Gatien Documentary

I'm the documentary king, having appeared in docs about bisexuality, Paris Hilton, The Boys in the Band, Charles Bush, Jackie Curtis, the Gramercy Hotel, Jack Wrangler, the Roxy, Squeezebox, Michael Lucas, Kiki & Herb, Divine, Vito Russo, Michael Alig, Bert Stern, Quentin Crisp, Joey Arias, Florent, Grey Gardens, and on and on.

But strangely enough, I'm not in the new one about deported club owner Peter Gatien.

And I should be!

I was the reporter -- and adult -- at Gatien's Limelight and Tunnel clubs WAY more than anyone else.

I was at every single Disco 2000, Glammy awards, Dirty Mouth contest, and King and Queen of NY contest, and reported on every moment.

At Limelight, I did events with Brooke Shields, Julia Sweeney, Jocelyn Wildenstein, Donna Douglas, Barbara Eden, and the "I've fallen and I can't get up" woman.

At Tunnel, I christened the club with my birthday party and went on to have bashes with John Wayne Bobbit, Divine Brown, and many others.

I worked with Gatien on a movie he wanted to do about club life, which then became a documentary, and which then never happened, but still, we worked together.

I celebrated what was good about the clubs and critiqued what was not so delightful.

I was the first one to allude to the missing club kid and then dabbled in the details of his alleged killing.

I had to tip off another reporter who was totally clueless despite the mess of buzz and publicity on it.

I should have been in there.

Gatien's daughter co-produced the doc, which might have something to do with this. She was mad that I once wrote her dad was trying to get back into the U.S. by invoking his part-Native American status. But it was true!

Oh, well.

Will I survive being left out of a movie about a man who -- after the famous club-kid murder -- had a publicist tell the press, "There WAS no Angel. This was all made up"?

Probably.
