It's a Good One: Silver Cream
Clearly, I just wanted to show you my newest wound, with which I'm slightly obsessed. But it also seemed like a good opportunity to share some advice with those of you who cook a lot, and/or are a little clumsy around the stove.
Silver Cream, aka Silver sulfadiazine is an ointment doctors prescribe for second- and third- degree burns. When I managed to spray boiling water all over myself (a French press mishap -- yes, I considered making up something more impressive), my sister was kind enough to retrieve a pot of silver cream left over from her line cooking days. Apparently, those guys keep it on hand.
So, next time you grab that cast iron skillet without thinking, call up a line cook? Or call the doctor, I guess, if you're, like, a total outsider.
