Killed Navy Seal's Mom To Romney: Stop Using My Son!
Mitt Romney has repeatedly dredged up the story of how he years ago met Navy SEAL Glen Doherty, who was recently killed in the attack on the US consulate in Libya.
"He shouldn't make my son's death part of his political agenda," said Barbara Doherty.
"It's wrong to use these brave young men, who wanted freedom for all, to degrade Obama."
Romney exploiting someone's sad plight for his own political gain?
(PS: Romney's campaign people say he will stop invoking that story.)
This brings me back to that horrid debate, where I wanted to cringe when slick Mitt brought up some everyday American he had supposedly met and chatted with.
I felt it was such an obvious attempt to show that he's actually talked to Americans and can even remember what they said.
But cheesy as it was, Obama then followed suit with the anecdote of some Nevada teacher he had allegedly talked to.
I guess it's part of the fromagey ritual of debating.
You know: Drag out stories of your human interactions!
Make it sound like you're out there in the trenches--just one of us--and your everyday chit chats expand your mind and influence your views!
But back to SEALS.
Voting for Romney/Ryan is like asking two seals to perch on a glass table and stay there.
That's from my new column, which is raising some serious hackles.
Enjoy. It's a winner.
