Now Hiring: Casa Mono, Baked, Tisserie
In our new regular feature, Now Hiring, we'll sit around in our PJ's scanning Craigslist for remarkable food industry jobs. (Feel free to pass on your own tips!)
This week, Casa Mono and Bar Jamon are hiring for all positions... Maybe, like, Ilan's old spot on the line? BLT Prime, Crafsteak, Esca, and Morimoto are all currently hiring kitchen staff as well, but here are our two recent favorites: Baked: For members only: The ad doesn't reveal the name of the "Hip bakery/café" in Red Hook, but we're thinking it's a safe bet. If you want to pull shots of espresso at Baked, you better live in the hood:
"Must live in or near Red Hook, Brooklyn. Resumes from other boroughs and states will not be reviewed."
If you've ever felt like Red Hook is a clique of mean girls who have lost all perspective, we're with you. Although, we do like to sip coffee there, and maybe take home some marshmallows... We're always trying to "pass," though, aren't we?
(By the way, we checked, and residence-based discrimination is legal for employers, unless it's a way to mask racial or religious biases.)
Tisserie sounds it out: Unless there's a "Tissery" in town which is also owned by two Venezuelan brothers named Ronald and Morris Harrar, someone misspelled the name of the bakery throughout the ad:
Tissery was named among the best 10 bakeries in New York the first month we opened. We will expand and for that we need to start training new members!
Candidates, take note: Tissery is looking for someone who is "professional and polished" with a "great attention to detail".
