Pop Music Goes Kosher
Ever long to hear your favorite pop hits rewritten so they'll have Old Testament-friendly lyrics that Orthodox Jews can adore? Me too! And now, oy vey, that very thing has happened with Gershon Veroba's new album, 2nd Impressions, which takes 12 familiar tunes and makes them even more Jewish than Streisand on the years when she doesn't do a Christmas album.
Just to give an example: Tears For Fears' "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" cutely becomes "Everybody Knows God Rules The World." And the Bangles' "Walk Like an Egyptian" is reworked into the immortal "Run From The Egyptians." The video for that one is attached and I actually think it's amusing and informative at the same time--simultaneously Orthodox and unorthodox.
