Hilly Remembered on the Bowery

It didn't take long for the tributes to pop up in front of CBGB.

We hope the person carrying that can of spray paint is over 18.

At least he'll never have to see his beloved club become an Olive Garden.

Can you read that? It says "I saw the best minds of my generation... vanish to Vegas."

Hilly never made it to Vegas, but it looks some crap movie about Vegas made it to the Bowery. Hilly dies as it was scheduled to shoot. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Hilly Crystal will always be my favorite comic. I especially loved his impersonation of Ricardo Montalban. I didn't know he had anything to do with CBGBs...just another example of his versatility. Good night funny man...

From what I've seen and heard, Hilly was the guy music always needs, even thought later CBGB shows didn't produce what it did in its hay day, he never let go of his values for orignal music. I saw him noodle around in his club until its demise, keeping its founding ethics. Thanks Hilly, I trust your influence will continue to show itself for a long time.
Recently, from the recent and upseting passings of Hilly to Max Roach, we need to,(although it may sound cheesy), help finish what they started.
Only in New York.

May I also cite the interesting point, that the neighboring CBGB and GBGB gallery sites have yet to be rented. I don't find this surprising, but the landlord should feel awfully guilty.

That's Hilly Krystal, not Billy Kristal. Hilly is a neo-con who writes for the NY Times. You should be embarrassed of your ignorance Annalee and Athena. He was a war Hawk and had the time to sleep on a cot in the back of CBs to create a new music scene that is no old.
