Kate Clarks lifelike sculptures of furry beasts with human faces (!) totally creep us outin a good way, of course (can you imagine anyone going hunting if all the antelope, coyotes, and deer resembled little Billy or sweet Aunt Sally?). So we can hardly wait for this sneak peek of her upcoming show at Claire Oliver gallerys New, Next, Now exhibit, a preview of all the artists arriving at the Chelsea space this fall. Youll also see veteran painter Phyllis Bramsons mixed-media pieces that combine collage, chine-collé, and various painting and printmaking techniques to create colorful fairy-tale scenarios; photographer Matthew Sleeths witty and unconventional look at the aftermath of a downpour titled Abandoned Umbrellas, 2004; Judith Schaechters stunning stained-glass works; and Noah Fischers light and sound installations that hold political undertones.
