    http://www.nysci.org Far off the beaten Museum Mile, it's easy to forget that Corona's Hall of Science is one of the greats. It features 450 exhibits and is geared toward participatory activities that explain science, technology, and math to kids and the large portion of the adult population that doesn't understand those things yet either. Built in1964 as part of the ever-eerily futuristic World's Fair, it was one of the first ever purely science museums in existence. A short trek for Queens residents, a longer trek for others, it sits on the edge of Flushing Meadows Corona Park near the 7 train. More >>

    At the 1939 and the 1964 Worldas Fairs, both held in Flushing Meadows, two time capsules were created and then buriedanot to be unearthed for 5,000 years. The so-called Book of Record, placed in libraries all over the world, details the contents and whereabouts of the capsules, as well as how to read them if English no longer exists.
