Huckleberry Bar

Huckleberry Bar

Joining joints like Jimmy's #43 and Cantina, Huckleberry is one of those bars that offer amazing food made in equipment-challenged micro-kitchens.

The Forum, one of the few lounges in Union Square territory, brings peace during the weekdays and boisterous partying on the weekends. Saturdays, for example, require plus-sized bouncers to monitor the swarms of cocktail-craving, dancing citizens.
Company Bar

Company Bar

If the hockey jerseys lining the walls at Company Bar don't draw you in, the great food and unpretentious atmosphere surely will. Stop by any night of the week for a refreshing round of hot wings and cold drinks.

    The Acheron

57 Waterbury St. Brooklyn, NY 11206 Ever since it opened in 2010, The Acheron has stood as a pillar of New York's metal/punk community, and its influence only continues to grow. With its flyer-plastered walls and tattooed clientele it may be a DIY spot at heart, but the Acheron tempers its rough-and-tumble metal/punk roots with a professional, no-nonsense staff and diverse show calendar. Most of the staffers play in bands of their own, so there's an added understanding between them and their guests that larger venues lack. It's a small (about 150 cap) room with big ambitions. In addition to supporting countless touring bands and locals, the Acheron has played host to ultra-intimate gigs by legends like Eyehategod, Infest, and Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon. One of the few 18+ music venues left in the city, it's looking out for the next generation, too. Read more about The Acheron >>

This web-footed watering hole on the Williamsburg/ Bushick border draws a steady hipster crowd with its weekly double happy hours (from 5 to 8 p.m. and 2 to 3 a.m.) and low-key atmosphere. Pull up a stool and take a gander at the plethora of Duck paraphanelia behind the bar, or grab a table for a game of Connect Four. Read more about Duck Duck Goose >>
