http://www.cargocafe.com So you finally took a trip on the Staten Island ferry: You've made it to shore and have no idea what the hell to do. Go to Cargo CafA(c), on Bay Street, a few blocks east of the ferry terminal. We'd tell you what it looks like, but the decor changes every couple of months. Take in a pint or two in the garden, or stay inside if you like. Read more about this New York bar or club >>
This Irish dive (within walking distance of the ferry) appears to be in the final stages of complete decay. The place is dirty, disorganized, and badly in need of a phone line/TV reception. Patrons here are exclusively beer-drinking, working-class men. Be careful when you open the doorait sticks. Read more about this New York bar or club >>
http://www.indianclove.com Indian Clove may just be the best all-around Indian restaurant in the five boroughs. Grounded in Punjabi cuisine, the menu strays all over the subcontinent, even including some Sri Lankan, Afghani, and Indo-Chinese dishes. The tandoori menu is especially comprehensive, including such oddities as bihari sheek kebab (ground lamb and chicken formed into a cylinder, perfect for absorbing smoke) and nilgiri kebab (chicken marinated in minted yogurt). Plenty on the menu for vegetarians, too, including the biggest malai kofta you’ve ever seen, and baigan hyderabadi – eggplant in an ethereal peanut sauce. The dining room is more formal than it needs to be; the focus is a glassed-in tandoori booth and a bar serving invented mixed drinks. Read more about this New York bar or club >>

http://www.killmeyers.com Near the southernmost point of New York State, located in an old mansion brooding over the Arthur Kill and not far from Tottenville's 1680 stone Conference House, Killmeyer's is a convenient stopping place on your circumnavigational tour of Staten Island. Nothing more refreshing on a warm day than one of the German wheat beers on tap, accented with lemon, and we found that the outsize Bavarian platter of three bulging sausages (pick knockwurst, weisswurst, and bratwurst), sided with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, and sweet stewed purple cabbage, provided perfect refection for a carload of sightseers.
