  • Café Martin

    Café Martin

355 Fifth Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11215
    N/A

http://www.facebook.com/cafemartinbk/info This Park Slope hole-in-the-wall prepares cappuccinos with liberal froth by day, and wine with ambient lighting by night. Martin, it's owner and namesake, prides himself on comprising its entire culinary team. The atmosphere, with just a few tables scattered among bench-lined walls, is probably as close to the definition of cozy as one can get. For under $10 patrons are able to enjoy a coffee, pastry, and strewn-about copy of the Times in this homey neighborhood establishment. Go for the expertly-crafted espresso, but not to work. A chalkboard sign recently stated their policy better than we can: "No, we don't have wi-fi...TALK to each other!" More >>

  • Candle Cafe

    1307 3rd Ave. New York, NY 10021
    212-472-0970

http://www.candlecafe.com Before juice bars were as prolific as coffee chains, Candle Cafe offered inventive, vegan cuisine to the animal-free set. Now, the scene is equally divided between old-school granola yogis and meat-free mommies who lunch. The restaurant favors boldly spiced dishes that will erase any residual memories of bland boiled beans and steamed tofu. If carnivores are in toe, try the daily soup specials (the rich corn chowder will leave you wondering why anyone would ever use cream) and the ginger vegetable stir-fry. --Mallory Stuchin More >>

  • Casetta Organic Coffee

    11 W. 8th St. New York, NY 10011
    347-480-0855

Coffee lovers come into this cozy West Village café for a caffeine buzz with a clear conscience. All of their beans are from Rook Coffee Roasters, a New Jersey-based company that roasts a variety of single-origin, fair-trade organic coffee beans. Baristas stand behind the wooden counter turning these beans into cups of drip coffee as well as espresso drinks like lattes and macchiatos. Tea lovers can opt for a cup of Earthbound Tea, organic loose-leaf teas like Ceylon gold from Sri Lanka and white peony from the Fujian province in China, all shipped in eco-friendly packaging. The café itself is a casual little affair outfitted with white paint, menus written on chalkboards and rustic wooden details. Jars of cookies and other baked goods sit next to cute fruit stands full of apples, while wooden shelves hold sweet treats like stone-ground chocolate from gourmet chocolatier Taza.—Keith Wagstaff More >>

http://www.thecoffeeshopnyc.com Do you know anyone who regularly eats these overpriced burgers? Yeah, neither do we. Most of us just come to gawk at the jaw-droppingly hot waitstaffathis Union Square restaurant and bar is well-known for pulling their hired help from a flawless model/actor gene pool. Though regarded as a hotspot has-been, you can't tell as much during the summer months, when itas unbelievably hard to score a table outside (diners only, they will not-so-kindly remind you). Try heading to the downstairs lounge instead. More >>

http://www.dunkindonuts.com Founded in 1950 in Massachusetts, Dunkin' Donuts has achieved global domination of the donut market with more than 10,000 locations in 32 countries. New York donut lovers will find them here in practically every incarnation, from Bavarian cream-filled to chocolate glazed and sprinkle-encrusted, plus donut holes called, adorably enough, "Munchkins." Dunkin's house coffee--which it refers to as "America's Favorite Coffee," naturally--has a cult following and has been hawked by the likes of celebrity chef Rachael Ray with the slogan "America Runs on Dunkin'." Espresso drinks and frozen "Coolattas" round out the beverage selection, and there are also bagels and breakfast sandwiches, including healthier Egg White Flatbreads, for those with a sweet tooth that lies dormant in the wee morning hours. Finding your local location is a slam-dunk on Voice Places. More >>
