http://www.starwoodhotels.com/whotels/index.html This location, opened in 1998, was the first in the now ubiquitous W hotel chain. The sprawling, feng shuiainspired lobby (featuring a stone floor, a wall covered in seeds and grass, and a cascading waterfall) is lovely, but be prepared for your room to be tiny. On the bright side though, all 688 rooms are stocked with Bliss bath products and the hotel recently renovated to feature a Bliss spa on-site. Steer clear of the ahipa Rande Gerber hotel bar, Whiskey Blue, which offers overpriced drinks served by underdressed girls to outer-borough clientele. More >>
http://www.starwoodhotels.com/whotels/index.html The Court, one of 5 W Hotels in Manhattan, is the chainas intimate aboutiquea location. With only 155 rooms and 43 suites the Court offers standard W amenities (pillow-top mattresses, CD/DVD libraries, in-room Internet) in a rich, luxurious atmosphere. The quiet, eastside location, mere blocks from Madison and Fifth avenues, is a shopperas dream. More >>
http://www.starwoodhotels.com/whotels/index.html Just a few steps from another W hotel (the Court), the Tuscany is the smallest of the chainas Manhattan locations. The hotel has only 113 cozy rooms and seven suitesaall of which are decorated in deep, sexy hues and feature the amenities that the W is famous for (pillow-top mattresses, in-room Internet, spa robes, amunchie boxesa). The midtown east location is convenient to most tourist attractions like Broadway theaters and the Museum of Modern Art. More >>
http://www.starwood.com/whotels The Times Square branch of the W chain gets high marks for its sleek, Zen-like design; attentive staff; and its dramatic use of public spaces (like the glass-enclosed waterfall in the entranceway and the 6,000-square-foot promenade on the seventh floor lobby). Many of the 509 rooms (most of which are, unsurprisingly, on the small side) have spectacular city views and they all feature the Was famously fluffy pillow-top mattresses on the beds. More >>
http://www.starwoodhotels.com/whotels/index.html Billed as the hotel chainas abohemiana New York location (though I donat know what kind of bohemian can afford these prices), the W Union Square is housed in the Guardian Life building, a beautiful landmark beaux arts space. The 286-room hotel employs the requisite staff of beautiful people and features the amenities expected from the W franchise (pillow-topped mattresses, 250-thread count sheets, in-room Internet), but what sets it apart is its fabulous downtown location. Because it is situated just steps from the subway and only a short walk to the Village or Chelsea, the W Union Square is the perfect hotel for someone who wants to stay away from the bustle of midtown tourists and explore the city like a real New Yorker. http://www.waldorfastoria.com The Waldorf-Astoria, housed in a beautiful landmark Art Deco building, has been synonymous with luxury since 1893. Perhaps that explains some of their stuffy rulesalike the one that says that guests must wear aproper attirea in the hotelas public spaces, like the main lobby, and warns specifically against tank tops, T-shirts, faded jeans, cutoffs, and acasual hats.a More >>
http://www.washingtonsquarehotel.com This 100-year-old hotel once housed Bob Dylan, and now hosts an annual chocolate festival. Once shabby and run-down, after a recent refurbishment, it is now a lovely place to wander about, and its lounge provides an excellent place to swill some drinks. Walking tours are available to guests of the hotel. More >>
http://www.westinny.com Though not located on the cityas prettiest blockait is practically across the street from the Port Authority Bus Depot and relics of the old Times Square like Show Worldathe Westin is one of best and biggest business hotels in midtown. With 863 guest rooms, bold architecture, and bright, modern design, the Westin stands out, even in its notoriously showy (and lit up) location in the middle of Times Square. The real reason to stay hereaaside from its location and business amenitiesais the beds. All Westin Hotels feature their trademarked aHeavenly Beds.a Letas just say they are aptly named. More >>
