Brooklyn Bridge: 8th Wonder of the World Walking Tour

Location Info:

Thomas Paine Park
Worth & Lafayette St.
New York, NY  10001
Traversing the Brooklyn Bridge is a quintessential New York journey for locals and tourists alike, but most walk across its span without knowing much about the people who built it. This Sunday, get your views with a generous side of history: New York Local Tours leads a small group from the old Five Points district (there's more to it than what you saw in Gangs of New York) to Brooklyn Bridge Park, on the other side of the river. As you walk, learn about John Augustus Roebling, the German-born engineer who created the plan for the bridge in the late nineteenth century; the workers who faced major peril in bringing his vision to life; and the New York City neighborhoods that were transformed as a result of the structure's completion. Advance registration is required to attend.
