As Women's History Month comes to a close, the Museum of the City of New York celebrates with an event honoring New York City women who are working to archive their own stories. Among their ranks is the Jamaican-born Staceyann Chin, a writer, poet, and political activist who will deliver a keynote address to start the proceedings. Following that, guests will be able to participate in quiltmaking and oral-history recordings — both creative ways of preserving one's herstory. The Lesbian Herstory Archives, a Brooklyn-based archival space with "the world's largest collection of materials by and about lesbians and their communities," will give a presentation about its work. Attendees can also screen-print a T-shirt or a tote bag with the help of the street muralist Lmnopi.
