I'm Drawn This Way: Cartoonists on Cartooning

"I'm not bad…I'm just drawn that way": so purred Jessica Rabbit, who's perhaps the apotheosis of cartoon bombshells. But a new generation of female cartoonists is expanding the parameters of comics beauty — making their own kind of music, as Mama Cass Elliot sang. Elliot is the subject of California Dreamin', a new graphic biography by Pénélope Bagieu, who is joined here by Natalie Andrewson, Katie Skelly, Julia Gfrörer, and Whit Taylor for a panel discussion on the stories women tell and the ways in which they depict themselves. Meg Lemke, of Mutha Magazine, moderates the talk; admission includes a $15 gift card or a signed copy of California Dreamin'.
