Locally sourced, cruelty-free, and gluten-free foodie satire is priced to move in Daily News editor Gersh Kuntzman and songwriter Marc Dinkin's latest New York International Fringe Festival musical, Murder at the Food Co-Op. The team’s follow-up to their 2005 production SUV: The Musical is inspired by Kuntzman's longtime membership in the Park Slope Food Co-Op, an evergreen source of bipartisan mockery. Eric Oleson directs the musical, which springs from the death of co-op founder Doris "Chiang Kai" Shenkman inside the co-op's hemp-powered Gore 3000 walk-in freezer. The liberal editor of store newsletter The Weekly Composter falls for the investigating officer during this love story within a mystery, which contains tunes like "I'll Make a Liberal Socialist Whack Job Outta You."
