Everyone's predicting an upturn in angry, heavy music as a result of the new administration, but Nails got the ball rolling before the election results were in last year, with their breakout third album, You Will Never Be One of Us. The California powerviolence group spits and spazzes; eight of the ten songs here fall under the two-minute mark, but they never feel short. Todd Jones growls and barks — there's no mistaking his pain on "Life Is a Death Sentence" or "Violence Is Forever" — and the pummeling-fast drums add to the urgency. It's a surprise that the album closes with an eight-minute track, but the mix of ominous doom and intense bursts on "They Come Crawling Back" oddly complements the rest of Nails' aggressive brand of hardcore.
