The interdisciplinary, collaborative work Pandæmonium is also transhistorical. Named after a house built on a lake of fire in John Milton's Paradise Lost, this piece of cinematic dance theater is set "somewhere between everyday experience and a fever dream"; directed by Lars Jan, it links two figures separated in actual space — choreographer Nichole Canuso and physical-theater performer Geoff Sobelle, who won a Bessie last year for his work on the marvelous Object Lesson — on a screen via live-stream video magic. Their first collaboration takes inspiration from Antonioni's Zabriskie Point and is swept along by Xander Duell's musical score; the Philadelphia-based project, about building in the American desert despite thirst and heat, comes to us from an engagement at the Philly Fringe.
