A technologically advanced puppet show given a lo-fi aesthetic by co-creators David Commander and Rob Ramirez, Steve of Tomorrow follows a science-fiction blogger named Ralph who posts an invite on the internet for a time traveler to come stay with him. Far from a know-it-all Dr. Who, Steve — the futuristic slacker who accepts the offer — quickly turns out to be a pain-in-the-ass roommate. The production, which utilizes Barbie dolls and human-sized puppets with tablets for heads, makes a return engagement after a short run last year. It's a smart, funny satire covering everything from our tech obsessions to climate change to the increasing coalescence between news and entertainment. Come for the amusing premise; stay for the disarming attempts at understanding a world threatened by media oversaturation.
