Forget artisanal Neapolitan pizza; sometimes you're just looking for a quick, cheap slice. Here $1 gets you one slice of cheese pizza, which is way less than you'll find at any of the many other slice joints in the neighborhood. If you're feeling really hungry, $2.75 will get you two slices and a soda, one of the best lunch deals in the city. The ambience is about what you would expect for a dollar pizza place: spare and functional. Past the formica counter is a small dining area complete with low-set tables and tiny stools. The crowd is pure St. Mark's, meaning it consists mostly of high school and college types trying to spend as little cash as possible. There are toppings available (pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, etc.) but rarely will you see anybody with anything besides a plain slice of cheese, maybe with a sprinkling of crushed red pepper if they're feeling fancy.—Keith Wagstaff
