The name of this East Village café refers to the number of seats it has, most of them mismatched in a charming, ramshackle kind of way. The tables are similarly random, topped with little glass bottles filled with flowers, and are usually occupied by couples who don't mind the close quarters. A pressed-tin ceiling, worn hardwood floors and numerous antiques complete the homey vibe. As for the food, it¹s more or less your basic French bistro fare-- filling, with a focus on sauces: chicken breast in a port and mushroom sauce, lamb shank cooked in red wine and herbs, hanger steak in a shallot sauce. The wine list is predominantly French and rarely exceeds $40. Before wandering down the street for a stroll in Tompkins Square Park, most people order dessert, one of the most popular being the caramelized apple tart made upside down and served with vanilla ice cream.—Keith Wagstaff
