Taking up where predecessor Mazza Plaza left off, Al Safa ("Purity") is a Lebanese restaurant where the vegetarian dishes far outpace the meat offerings. Pooled with generous quantities of olive oil and dusted with fresh parsley, the babaganoush is particularly good, and so are the fried cauliflower and the pickle plate, which is the equal of anything found in a Uzbeki joint. While the lamb schwarma proved disappointingly dry, the roast chicken was a paragon of moistness, served with the above-mentioned pickles, and a yogurt-based garlic sauce that shot the bird out of a cannon. To wash it down, grab the wonderful pomegranate-and-date drink. Plenty of seating in this brightly lit space, and the proprietor is especially welcoming.
