Strangely, this self-proclaimed gastropub opened with no liquor license, and it was BYOB in the early days. While well thought out, the food already seemed a little tired, maybe because of the lack of alcohol: two stamp-size swatches of pork cheek piled on grits; a smallish plank of striped bass, skin intact, surrounded by root vegetables; and fish and chips that substituted skate for cod (Hey, skate is cheaper than cod!). Still, the parsnip soup was superb, with its touch of curry, and so was the Guinness pudding dessert, dampened with a buttery hard sauce. This place probably merits another look, but why don't you do it for us?
