Francis Garcia and Sal Basille's little pizza joint is almost as famous for its lines as it is for its pizza. As the night progresses, the line becomes a scene of its own, filled with tipsy bar hoppers flirting and joking loudly on the sidewalk. Slices are perfect soaking up the alcohol in your stomach: hefty with an almost absurd amount of cheese grated on top. The spinach and artichoke pizza is a real gut-bomb, with a thick crust and rich creamy sauce on top. The artichoke, as well as the crab, Sicilian and 'Margarita' varieties, all come available by the slice or whole pie. The tiny restaurant is standing room only, with wooden counters the only place to rest a slice or 32oz. Budweiser, served in a Styrofoam cup, of course. If you¹re looking to avoid the line, you¹re out of luck; Artichoke doesn¹t offer delivery.—Keith Wagstaff
