Steak is the focus of this casual Argentinean bistro, located on a busy corner of the Lower East Side. In the summer, the floor-to-ceiling windows open up to let in the breeze, as diners sip Quilmes, the national beer, at small tables covered in white tablecloths or outside on the sidewalk patio. The exposed brick walls sport a patriotic blue-and-white paint job, complemented by vintage signs, old photos, worn-in hardwood floors and wine racks holding a small selection of Argentinean wines including several Malbecs. Carnivores can choose from a wide range of free-range, grass-fed steaks or other meaty fare like the Patagonian smoked and braised lamb shank. If you really want the true Argentinean experience, opt for the parrillada plate, a plate for two filled with skirt steak, short ribs, lamb chops, sweet breads, chorizo and blood sausage (served Sunday through Thursday).—Keith Wagstaff
