Sitting around in coffee shops talking about records is par for the course for music nerds. Sitting around in a coffee shop where you can actually buy records? Even better. This Brooklyn café sells rare LPs and 45s along with java from Rook Coffee and baked treats from Scratchbread, the wildly popular bakery founded by Brooklyn local Matt Tilden. Inside, a veritable taxidermied zoo lurks: bobcats, birds, boars and more, staring dead-eyed at customers with price tags hanging off of them. Vintage posters and photographs complete the quirky junk shop aesthetic. Iced coffee and espresso drinks are available alongside a variety of teas; organic cookies, savory muffins, scones and gluten-free goods fill the counter case. Audiophiles should expect bins filled with hard to find indie, soul, garage, punk and experimental records, plus some pretty cool equipment like USB-equipped turntables that connect directly into your computer.— Keith Wagstaff
