This market-driven restaurant is one of the BLT-branded businesses executive chef Laurent Tourondel got in the divorce from former business partner Jimmy Haber. Not a bad deal for Tourondel; the restaurant has a stellar location, across the street from Central Park, located inside the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Despite the fancy digs, the menu is focused squarely on a simple, down-to-earth culinary concept: locally grown, seasonal cooking with French and American roots. The ever-changing seasonal menu, written on a blackboard in front, highlights the restaurant's relationship with local farmers. A few things you might find on the menu include a steamed striped bass with a shitake-ginger vinaigrette, seven-pepper NY strip steak au poivre and a crispy Amish chicken and spring garlic mashed potatoes. The dining room reflects the restaurant's farmhouse ethos with hardwood floors, simple wooden furniture and giant, colorful paintings of fruits and vegetables, all given an upscale touch by elegant chandeliers.—Keith Wagstaff
