Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya

187 Orchard St.
New York, NY 10002

Eric and Bruce Bromberg's take on the traditional after-work pub is a sight fancier than most izakayas you might encounter in Japan. But this is Soho, not Tokyo, and the Orchard Street restaurant and lounge certainly bares the Blue Ribbon seal of approval. At upwards of $20, the rolls are well-crafted, but nothing you're not surely paying for. The real draw is the scenester crowd and a decent, mercifully self-explanatory sake menu. Visit during lunch hours when they offer standards like the Blue Ribbon burger and a version of the Blue Ribbon chicken with wasabi honey.
