Home to the Word for Word reading series, this open-air space is a cost-free wind-down in Midtown. Often, its adjacent hallway features installation art or small mobile gallery exhibits, so thereas not need to have kids to enjoy storytime here. Bit of NYC-propagated history: The room opened in 1935 as a public response to the job losses of the depression era. It re-opened last summer, and, keeping with tradition, itas open to everyone, job or not, ID or not.
