Café Spice was started by Sushil Malhotra, who ran the fine-dining Indian restaurant, Dawat. His concept: Indian dining somewhere between cab drivers and royalty. This populist goal has served the city-plus Jersey City, Philadelphia, and Maryland-well. Though price-wise, it's still a big step up from 6th Street, the food is also a ways away. Try the braised lamb shanks (Nalli Ka Gosht). This location is takeout only. If you want to take Indian food on a train ride, that's your business. Or not.
