This Spanish old-timer was founded when Franco was still Spain's dictator, and the dining rooms have that lived-in feel. The menu favors seafood, and shrimp can be had a half-dozen ways, all reeking of garlic. The mussels and octopus are good choices, too, but big appetites will head for the plate-busting paellas - alpine heaps of saffron-tinted rice, often with chorizo and chicken in addition to the expected clams, mussels, squid, and - if wallet allows - lobster. As with similar restaurants, Tex-Mex was added sometime in the '60s. It's not half-bad. A nifty lunch special includes salad, bread, rice, vegetable, and a humongous serving of chicken or seafood.
