This healthy, vaguely Moroccan café is a popular lunch spot for office workers in the Flatiron District and Union Square area. People on their way to work stop in for cappuccinos and chai lattes to go with breakfast items like omelets (filled with everything from feta cheese to cured ham), bagels, oatmeal and pastries. The lunch menu is gargantuan; 36 sandwiches, both regular and pressed, are filled with ingredients such as salmon, meatloaf and chicken and pesto. The salad menu is similarly robust, with a make-your-own option as well as pre-made varieties like Chinese chicken and cobb salads, plus a rotating selection of eight seasonal soups. The restaurant¹s Moroccan background only really comes out in the Mediterranean boxes, which include dishes like chicken kebabs and grilled shrimp skewers served with rice pilaf and pita. The look is upscale casual, long counters and salad bars flanked by a few tables and stools near the front window, which are always filled during the extremely busy lunch hour.—Keith Wagstaff
