This "Little Cafe;" on the Lower East Side nominally purveys Cuban food, and the walls are plastered with pre-Revolutionary Havana kitsch. The pair of rooms is convivial, open to the street, and attracts a tumultuous crowd, but the food goes beyond the merely Cuban, also dabbling in Dominican and Mexican fare. Masitas De Puerco is a solidly Cuban entree of luscious deep-fried pork chunks, served on a bed of diced veggies with garlic-laced mojo, while the ceviche of the day (in this case, shrimp) is nearly as good, but certainly not Cuban; it's more Mexican. The only dish we really hated was the bizarrely bland chicken fricassee.
