Replacing a notorious pizza parlor, Chickpea brings Israeli-style miniature falafel to the East Village for the first time. Have these excellent orbs in a sandwich on a homemade pita, whose tender qualities stand in contrast to the cardboard product usually encountered. The downside is that the enhanced puffiness restricts the quantity of ingredients that can be contained therein, making the sandwich smaller than usual. A pair of twirling schwarma cylinders also beckon -- the spice-slathered chicken is unusually good, while the turkey resembles tough rubber.
