Despite the name, this hole-in-the-wall Chinese joint sits on a far-east part of East Broadway that many would actually call the Lower East Side. It isn't exactly the most inviting restaurant; a lone worker stands at a small counter with a view into the tiny kitchen, with large pictures of menu items hanging above. One table sits four people, if you can squeeze by the delivery bike and stacks of sodas that are stored inside. The dishes number in the hundreds, with Szechuan, Hunan and Cantonese takes on beef, pork, chicken and seafood. Some of the restaurant's specialties include more Americanized dishes like jumbo shrimp, sparerib tips, chicken wings with garlic sauce and more, all fried. Most dishes, from the beef chow fun to the hot Hunan shrimp, come in either pints or quarts. During lunch (11am-3pm), get a main dish, fried or white rice, and soup for around $6 or less.—Keith Wagstaff
